Discover Our Process...
Our process begins with an initial consultation where we gather information about the client's medical history, lifestyle, goals and dietary preferences. Using this information, we develop a personalised set of nutritional priorities and strategies and that is tailored to your individual needs and goals. We provide ongoing support and guidance throughout the journey to ensure that our clients are supported in their endeavour to achieve optimal health and wellbeing. Our approach is based on the latest nutritional science and is designed to be practical, sustainable, and effective.

"Eating is the most complex sensory task our body has to do!" And many children need some additional support finding a comfortable balance point between sensory stimulation & nutrition. In addition, many children bypass the oro-motor skills required to feed themselves well and adapt their chewing motion to the skills they have. This affects the textures of food they can comfortably eat.
Feeding therapy is designed to work with children's oro-motor and sensory needs, to help them develop the skills required to eat a nutritious variety of food, in a non threatening (no pressure to eat) environment. This can be great fun, very messy and a fabulous way to explore foods for our most challenging eaters!

Note about appointment duration/fees:

Most appointment types include time for follow-up tasks (including corresponding with referring doctors). Each client we see is individual and sometimes follow up is more or less than anticipated. You will only be charged for the time necessary to ensure you receive optimal care.

Follow up appointment duration and subsequent fees are customized to meet individual needs. Some clients prefer shorter, more frequent sessions, while others may benefit from longer, less frequent sessions. Your dietitian will discuss these preferences with you and you are encouraged to express your needs to either your dietitian our reception team.
Eligible clients may access NDIS funding, Medicare, and private health rebates. Feel free to inquire with our reception staff or your health professional.
NDIS clients will be invoiced in line with NDIS requirements.
NDIS appointments will be invoiced based on total time spent (including follow up) and invoices are consistent with NDIS pricing agreements. NDIS service agreements can be provided, on request.

Tele/Video health, Face-to-Face and Home Visits
Appointments are available face-to-face and via video call.
Feedback from our clients, clinicians, professional bodies and now supported by studies, confirms that video consultations provide high quality dietetic consulting and are often preferred by families. Tele/video health provides the convenience of attending appointments from home, allowing your child to play, sleep, or eat in a familiar setting. This saves commute time and makes scheduling around other commitments easier. The content of our sessions remains the same, regardless of delivery method, and tele/video health offers unique insight into your home environment (i.e you can grab that multivitamin/snack food to discuss with/show your dietitian).

Please note, children are not required to be in attendance for their appointment (although they are welcome to be). The initial appointment is typically a long appointment (60+mins) and involves a lot of information gathering from parents. It may be challenging for younger children to stay engaged throughout. It is appropriate to book a tele/video health appointment while your child is at school. They do not need to miss school for their appointment. However, if they wish to be (or you wish them to be) they are more than welcome. (And we do have clinics available after school hours and on Saturdays to reduce school missed.)

Your dietitian will discuss with you whether your child would benefit from face-to-face appointments (for feeding therapy, for example). Where feeding therapy is beneficial, these sessions are often dispersed with tele/video health reviews to discuss progress.

Currently appointments default to video consultations, unless requested otherwise. If you would prefer a face-to-face appointment, please contact us on 03 7015 1441 or email info@gutandkidsnutrition.com.au to request. Please note room availability varies depending on location.
